Interviewer:  What are the current estate taxes?

Becky Cholewka:  Another great question we get all the time is, “Oh, I’m so concerned about estate taxes, and that’s why I want to do estate planning.”

Rest assured, at least, right now, in 2013 and moving into 2014 there is only .03 percent of the Americans that are paying what we call death taxes. Right now, it’s about 5.25 million per person or 10.5 million per couple before federal death taxes kick in.

Again, for most of us it’s not a concern, and here in Arizona, we don’t have any state death taxes, it’s also a great planning state for that purpose, as well.
