Legacy Planning Tip #27

Write down a few of your famous family recipes. Make copies and include it in your Christmas cards this year.

Like many people I associate food with family get-togethers. Sunday dinners growing up were homemade pasta and meatballs, stuffing balls at my uncle’s house on Thanksgiving, and my mother-in-law’s Easter bread.

Many recipes are known by memory and are never written down. Some family recipes are so secretly guarded that they are lost forever when the family cook or baker dies.

I don’t know about you, but I want my family to not only remember my famous Christmas rum cake, but I want them to continue to enjoy eating it, too.

Take time this holiday season to write down your family’s favorite recipes. Your family will appreciate your lasting legacy!
